Evleaks has just leaked out a render, likely for the FCC, of the LG G3S. Which is supposedly a dual-SIM LG G3 Mini variant from the G3 family. The LG G3 Mini features a 4.5-inch 1280×720 resolution display, a quad-core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage with a microSD card slot, 5MP camera on the back and a front-facing camera (megapixel count is not mentioned), 2100mAh battery and Android 4.4.2 KitKat. So it’s no where near high end, but still pretty decent compared to some other Mini devices. Although I would love for LG and other manufacturers to follow Sony’s lead with their Mini phones. Their Xperia Z1 Compact has the same specs as the Xperia Z1, just with a smaller display and battery. So why can’t all manufacturers do that?
The LG G3S is likely not coming to the US, and will stay in emerging markets. As this does sound like a great device in emerging markets, I’m sure it’ll do well over there. With it being a Dual-SIM version, it’ll likely be in most of Asia, as they like to use two different SIMs because most carriers can’t cover all of their country, so it makes it easy to switch from carrier to carrier. We don’t do that here in the US, and most of North America.
LG has really been following in Samsung’s footsteps lately, and its really showing, as they are moving up the ladder and getting to a point where they can challenge Samsung for the top spot in Android. Which Samsung has held for a few years and have had a huge lead over their competition. Which isn’t always good for competition as we won’t see as much innovation, which is why I wish their market shares were closer together. How many of you would be interested in a LG G3 Mini?
