Since LG launched the G Pro 2 a few months ago, fans of larger smartphones have been – not so patiently – waiting to see when LG would bring the device stateside. While the device has been on shelves for months in South Korea, we’re still waiting for it here in the West and it looks like Verizon is to be the first port of call for those looking for a supersized LG device. We’ve heard the G Vista name a couple of times now and while we all thought it’d be the G Pro 2 for Verizon, it seems like the G Vista is to be a more affordable phablet for Big Red users, sorry guys.
Leaking out in a new press render, courtesy of the hardworking @evleaks, the G Vista has all the hallmarks of the G Pro 2, but it does look a little different here and there compared to what South Koreans have been enjoying for months. The LG-VS880 as the G Vista has also been known by has appeared in UAProf files before now with a 1280 x 720 display resolution and a Snapdragon 400 CPU running the show. There’s word that an 8-megapixel camera is to be included along with a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, expandable storage and of course a large battery at 3,200 mAh. So, this doesn’t sound like the G Pro 2 people were holding out for, but LG’s new software does seem to be onboard here so it’s not all bad news.
Of course, how much Big Red charge for such a device will determine how much interest the G Vista garners, especially with the G3 poised to go on sale any day now. Affordable 4G handsets don’t always have to be poor devices and considering that LG has a very good track record with their L series in Europe, we wouldn’t be surprised if the G Vista ended up something of a surprise hit for Verizon and LG.
