New Concept Shows Off The HTC Nexus 8 Tablet Might Look Like Running Android L

Google is expected to release the Nexus 8 tablet around October of this year. While the tablet has been pretty well hidden so far, there are concepts available. One of the newest concepts shows the Nexus 8 made by HTC and showing off a little of HTC combined with the Nexus line in a single tablet.

Concept devices are a great way for us to better imagine what a future device may look like. They usually are based off of what we’ve seen in the past from a particular company. However in the instance of the Nexus 8, there are design requirements that must be met set by Google. For instance, in the latest Nexus 8 concept, there is the usual “Nexus” on the back with a flat design that the line has been known for. Along with that flat design of the hardware, Vishal Bhanushali the artist behind the concept added Android L to the concept.

Android L is still in testing phases, but thanks to a developer preview, we know the overall design of Android has been overhauled to look flatter. The design is known as Material Design and it brings a clean look to Android. In the concept, we can see that Android L completes the hardware nicely. Though we also see where HTC could add a touch all their own, mainly on the face of the tablet.

HTC has become synonymous with front facing speakers. These speakers have been on almost every smartphone HTC has released since the HTC One M7 back in 2013. It would be no surprise if HTC decided to add them to the Nexus 8 tablet as well. On the back of the concept, it seems that Bhanushali decided to go with a soft touch back much like the Nexus 7 from 2013. Also added to the tablet is a 64 Bit processor.

There are a couple more images below in the gallery that Bhanushali put together. There is even a nice little video that shows of the concept device in all its fake glory. What are your thoughts on the concept, do you like the design or is there something missing? If you feel it’s lacking, what would you add or take away to make it better?
