We all want a piece of Android L now don’t we? Well Nova Launcher has just updated their beta version of their launcher to include some of Android L’s goodies. Not everything, but there are a few Android L actions in this beta. Which if you want to check out the beta, you’ll need to join the Google+ Community here and then opt in to beta test it here. I know what you’re all wondering, what’s new in this release? Well here’s the changelog; “L” Folder Preview (Nova Settings – Folder – Folder Preview – Line), “L” App Drawer Icon (Long-press app drawer – Edit – Tap Icon – All white icon under “Built-in”), “L” App Animation (Nova Settings – Look and Feel – App Animation – Slide Up), Minor tuning for running on Android L Dev Preview, Optimizations and bug fixes.
It is in beta still so it’s likely to have some bugs. But I am using Nova Launcher beta on my OnePlus One right now and haven’t noticed any issues. But I am liking the Android L goodies that are baked into Nova Launcher now. It doesn’t give you the same feel as actually using Android L, but it’s a step closer. I’m sure we’ll be seeing plenty more features added to Nova Launcher that are from Android L over the next few weeks. As Nova Launcher tries to stay pretty close to the stock Android launcher, which is one reason why I use it still, to this very day.
Now that the developer preview is in hands and we have some of the code in AOSP, we should be seeing more and more developers updating their apps to not only work with Android L, but to use Material Design, which by far is my favorite feature in Android L. And I’m sure I’m not alone here.
