For many people, gaming is a lifestyle. Gamers, eat, breathe, and live for gaming. NVIDIA wanted to help gamers quench that thirst for gaming by creating a tablet that allows gamers to play Android Games, PC Games, stream games from servers, and even stream it to your TV. All of this can be done with the Shield Tablet. The Shield tablet is indeed an Android device but as you can see, NVIDIA didn’t just single this device down to only playing just Play Store games. This device can play more games in several different ways for users who want to play on the go. With just thousands of Android games that are floating around in the Google Playstore, the Shield Tablet has well over 400 optimized games available in the Shield Hub. In addition, there are 11 specially optimized games for the Tegra K1 processor at the heart of the Shield Tablet.
The fun doesn’t stop there, more Tegra K1 optimized games are expected to come in the future for more intense gaming. On NVIDIA’s blog, the company gave a sneak peak of 5 of the 11 Tegra K1 optimized games listed on the site. The first available game was Trine 2 which is a side-scrolling action game. The game comes pre-installed on the device, so if you have already went ahead and pre-ordered the Shield, the game will be there waiting for you. Next up, we have War Thunder which is an MMO combat game that was inspired by WWII. The game will be available in the Google PlayStore and has cross platform play for PC, PS4, Mac OS, Linux, and Onlive. Following War Thunder is Talos Principle which is a first person philosophical puzzle game set for release later this fall. Theres no word on where this game will be available but if we had to guess, probably the PlayStore. Next in line is Portal, which is a fan favorite and is exclusively on the Shield Tablet and the Shield Portable. Last but not least, Half-Life 2 which is the best selling game of all time will be available for the Shield Tablet.
These games are just the start to something that will soon grow and become huge. When NVIDIA said they were going to put together a gaming tablet, they put together a gaming tablet! Once the Shield Tablet begins to hit peoples doorsteps and gamers begin to dig into their new worlds, more Tegra K1 optimized games should surface, giving gamers something to drool about.
