OnePlus One's Bamboo StyleSwap Covers to be Available at the End of August

While the launch of the OnePlus One has hardly been smooth sailing, there’s no denying that it’s a great device, as we found out in our review. With some of the company’s problems with production hopefully behind them, they’re announcing their first wooden options as StyleSwap covers. The teaser was that today, July 22nd, was the day that OnePlus would introduce bamboo into their lineup, and they’ve managed to at least stick to this schedule. While the timing was a little unfortunate, as Xiaomi’s Mi4 also features wooden covers, we’re pretty sure that OnePlus is hoping their underdog status will help them win over those looking for a more natural smartphone.

The Bamboo StyleSwap cover will be available from the end of August for $49 and there’s also word on new sandstone covers available in black for $29 and a Silk White option for $29 as well. Following in Motorola’s footsteps, this isn’t the first time that we’ve seen Bamboo used in a smartphone like this, but it’s easy to say that OnePlus’ method is fairly simple and yet still offers a seamless transition to the rest of the device. This isn’t a case, but it’s also easily replaced by the user, which is a nice touch for certain. OnePlus have prepared a teaser video for those craving a more natural touch with their devices.

Not only is the latest video from OnePlus reminiscent of other hype-building commercials from them in the past, but it also does a very good job of letting the Bamboo talk for itself and as replacement covers go, these look really nice. If you’re thinking about getting one of these but wondering how to change the back cover, OnePlus has you covered there as well, but we’re fairly certain the majority of people already know how to do this. Is a Bamboo back like this enough to entice users? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
