The Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) is the largest bank in Canada and one of the largest in the world. They employ about 79,000 full and part-time employees that serve more than 16 million clients throughout Canada, the U.S. and 42 other countries. They have had a regular mobile App for customers like you and me, but they are finally reaching out to their many business customers with their new RBC Mobile Express application. Blaise MacNeil, Vice-President, Business Treasury Solutions, RBC said: “We know that business owners rarely sit still and that’s why it’s important for us to help them stay on top of their finances while on the go. We’re excited to bring our online business banking capabilities to our business clients with RBC Mobile Express. This way, they can manage their finances anywhere, anytime.”
RBC is the first bank in Canada to offer a mobile business banking app that’s available on all major platforms – iOS, Android and BlackBerry…although there was no mention of a Windows Phone app. MobilSyrup asked an RBC representative about when a Windows Phone 8 app might be available – currently only about 2-percent of Canadians use WP8 – and representatives noted, “We want to make sure our mobile offerings are available to a sizeable portion of our business clients and also offer the great user experience and security that RBC is known for. We will continue to monitor client usage on the prevalent mobile devices and will prioritize accordingly.” The RBC Express Mobile will allow their business clients to: View balances and/or transactions for their business deposit accounts – Transfer funds between accounts – Approve payments and transfers made by other users – and Find an RBC Royal Bank branch or ATM.
MacNeil explained that the security of their clients is top priority and said that the RBC Express Mobile application keeps no information on the smartphone itself and added: “At RBC, security is always top-of-mind and the same is true for businesses, especially for those with high-dollar and high-volume banking transactions. With RBC Express Mobile, their company’s banking information is protected by multi-level security features and state of the art encryption. They are in control of their transaction and their financial data and information belongs where it should – with our client.”
