Here’s another rumor and one that we should take with a bit of a grain of salt here, as it is coming from Evleaks. But then again we should be doing this for every rumor that hits our desk. The latest is that Microsoft and Nokia are working on a Lumia device that will be running Android. Now Nokia has already released a few Android devices, under the X brand, this year and they have all been forked versions of Android. Basically there’s no Google services at all. It’s only Nokia and Microsoft’s services. So that means no Google Play, no Gmail, no Google Calendar, nothing that’s Google is on the Nokia X, and we have a feeling it might be the same with this new Lumia that is supposedly running Android.
Now we have no specifics at this time as to whether it’s a high-end Nokia Lumia, or a low-end one. Or if it’s going to be full-on Android with Google services or forked like the Nokia X. I’m leaning towards forked Android, simply because Microsoft is behind it all. Although typically, the Lumia lineup has been reserved for Windows phone. Similar to Samsung’s Ativ being Windows and Galaxy being Android. So it’s definitely pretty interesting to see here.
We’ve seen some rumors turn out to be false lately, but that’s just the name of the game, unfortunately. Sometimes we get good and juicy rumors, other times it’s just too good to be true. Which was the case with the Nexus 9. Not sure why anyone would think Google is going to jump from 2GB of RAM to 5GB of RAM like that. But I know a bunch of our readers are hoping and praying that this rumor is true and that it is a high-end Lumia. Simply because their cameras are some of the best, plain and simple.
