Samsung will sell products or services to anybody they think will buy them – and kids are no exception. On their new Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Tab S, Samsung is introducing an update to their Kids Store features that are available in Kids Mode on those particular devices. The Kid’s Store offers both free and paid apps on content that would be meaningful for certain age groups. Parents also have the option of setting up safeguards to block Apps that they do not feel are appropriate for their children.
Children are starting to use electronic and mobile devices at an earlier age than ever before. WonPyo Hong, President of the Media Solution Center at Samsung Electronics explains, “The average age at which children using ‘smart devices’ for the first time has become lower than before. Samsung is committed to providing interesting and educational content to children, while continuing its effort to help parents protect their children and allow them to enjoy safe, parent-approved content in their daily lives.” The 900 specialty applications are well organized in the Kids Store with two tabs – one for content – learning, play and story. The other is grouped by age…0-4 for preschool, 5-6 for kindergarteners, and 7 years and older are in primary school. You will also find premium content from PBS Kids, Budge Studio, Cupcake Digital and Intellijoy. There are also worldwide popular games such as LEGO, Pocoyo and Tiptap and educational apps such as Agnitus, Little Bidge English and Creative Corner for creativity.
Kids Mode was first introduced on the Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 Kids in October 2013 as an all in one solution to provide a safe, fun and educational experience for a child while giving parents the control that they want. The Kids Mode on the Galaxy Tab S and Galaxy S5 provide the same type of experience – children can draw, watch videos, record their voices with funny cartoon effects and take pictures. Parental controls allows parents the control over purchases and must enter a password to open that menu.
