The latest rumors for the Samsung Galaxy Alpha are out today. We’ve been hearing about this device for a few months now. It was originally named the Galaxy F. But it appears that Samsung has changed that to the Galaxy Alpha. Originally, it was said to be a big competitor to the iPhone 6 when that launches this fall. But with the specs that have been leaking out lately, I’m not so sure on that. Just yesterday, we found out that the Galaxy Alpha would feature a 4.8-inch 720p display. And today, Sammobile is reporting that it’ll feature the Exynos 5433 processor inside. Which is indeed an octa-core processor. It’ll also have the Mali-T628 GPU as well as 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. We’re also looking at a 2.1MP camera on the front. However, the AnTuTu listing for the Galaxy Alpha still lists it as a 1280×720 resolution display. Which kinda sucks, but it is what it is.
The second part of this is that it looks like Samsung’s not planning to launch the device on August 4th, but rather on August 13th. Which is just three weeks ahead of IFA in Berlin and only about two weeks from today. Now to be clear this is the announcement of the Galaxy Alpha, not when it’ll actually be available. It’ll probably be available a few weeks after Samsung announces it, which is typical for most phones these days, except for the HTC One M8. Remember that at IFA in September, Samsung is rumored to be announcing the Galaxy Note 4, the Gear VR and a few other goodies. So we may see the Galaxy Alpha get pushed back to their Unpacked event in Berlin.
