When it comes to smartphones here in the U.S., there are plenty of devices that we could never dream of getting our hands on that would serve as great options for a daily driver. More so then that, some of the devices we see getting released in other regions look to provide a rather amazing experience, some having a surprisingly performance heavy set of specs that weren’t expected. One thing that is fairly consistent no matter what the market is, are larger phone screens. Devices that come with displays larger than 5-inches is a growing trend in most parts of the world where mid-range to high-end handsets are sold, and one of the latest going to what looks like the Docomo network in Japan is Sharp’s latest flagship device, the SH-04F Aquos.
This bad boy sports a 5.4-inch 1080p display, with a reported 81% screen to size ratio. That’s a lot of display to work with for the user and quite honestly very impressive that Sharp was able to squeeze that out of the device. Besides the massive amount of screen real estate that the SH-04F Aquos gives to its users, there’s a very capable Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor inside clocked at 2.3GHz to power all of the phones functions, and it’s accompanied by an Adreno 330 GPu for the graphics set. The 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM could have been better suited as 3GB but there are a good number of flagships this year that still carry 2GB so Sharp isn’t exactly bringing up the rear in that category.
The phone carries a 13MP rear facing camera and a 2.1MP front facing camera for everyone’s favorite type of picture these days, and all the stuff packed inside has a hefty 3300 mAh battery to run off of just in case you were worried about all that screen size ratio sucking up all the juice too quickly. You have 32GB of internal storage space to work with and an additional microSD card slot with support for up to a 128GB microSD card. Just like the last few devices from Sharp, this one is also Dust and Water resistant with an IP57 certification, and it’s running on Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat out of the box. While this is a device we will probably never see stateside, it sure is awesome to get a look at what could be. For anyone that might actually reside in Japan and use the Docomo network, the SH-04F Aquos will set you back roughly 74605 Yen or around $730. That’s quite a price tag but then again it’s no different then what we see from the likes of Samsung, HTC, Sony, and others. Would you sport this phone if it were available in the U.S.?
