Sony Will Be Launching The Xperia T3 On Monday In Hong Kong

Sony has just begun the pre-order process for their Xperia Z2 Tablet through Verizon Wireless here in the U.S., but we’re still waiting on a carrier model of their awesome flagship smartphone. If you live in Hong Kong though you can look forward to Sony launching the Xperia T3 in just a few short days. Starting July 14th Sony will be launching the Xperia T3, a more mid-range offering from their 2014 smartphone lineup. The T3 is slightly less feature packed when it comes to specs, but Sony follows that up with a lower price to soften the blow of not having some of the cooler features found in the Xperia Z2 and other devices.

The dust and water resistance feature will be absent from the Xperia T3 as will the 3GB of RAM and the 20.7MP camera, but that is too be expected for a device that will cost roughly $385 USD. The RAM is actually set at 1GB and the internal memory is chopped in half from some of Sony’s other top end devices this year, dropping from 16GB to 8GB. The Sony does however keep the Triluminos display here, packed into a 5.3-inch screen with 720p resolution. Sony has also left the metal band that can be found around the edges of most of their more recent smartphones as part of the T3’s design, and Sony is claiming that the Xperia T3 is the thinnest smartphone in its size range on the entire planet, measuring at just 7mm thick. Keep in mind they’re only mentioning 5.3-inch devices with that statement, and not smartphones of any other size.

The Xperia T3 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.4GHz, and sports a 1.1MP front facing camera and although not quite the camera prowess of their flagship phone, the 8MP camera is still using Exmor RS sensor which means it should still be able to outperform other 8MP cameras from this year and last. All the usual suspects in connection type are here, LTE category 4, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, and WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n/. It’ll come packed with a 2500 mAh battery inside and and run Android 4.4 Kit Kat out of the box, as well as come in a few different colors of black, white, and purple. When launched, the Xperia T3 will cost about HK$2,998. Hopefully we’ll see devices like this from Sony come stateside.
