Sony has not played well with others in the past, regarding sale locations of their flagship devices, phone or tablet. The most notorious places of neglect (intentional or not) is the United States. I realize and recognize that most people in the U.S. would not know about the Xperia line, and therefore don’t mind that we don’t really have ‘local’ access to the device family, but those that do know whine and get upset (or simply rant about it on forums and comment sections of YouTube videos unboxing, reviewing, and comparing the Xperia devices) about not having access to some of the most premium and durable devices available today, but now those folks can shush and read this, since the Z2 is for the U.S. now too, through Sony’s online store.
Yeah, people that lust after and are upset by the absence of an Xperia device in your life and pocket, worry no more. Sony’s Xperia Z2, the flagship showcased at CES in January and released soon after, is available to us folks in the United States, for the (as of right now) discounted price of only $700! Yeah, it’s a pricey device, but let’s consider the device. First, it’s unlocked. And is water and dust resistant. And it’s got a glass front AND back, as well as some beastly internal specifications. For those who might not know off the top of their heads, the Z2 had a Snapdragon 801 clocked at 2.3 Ghz, paired with 3 GB of RAM and the Adreno 330 GPU, Micro SD card slot, 16 GB of internal storage, and Sony’s ever-famous 20.7 mp back camera and a full 1080p 5.2 inch LCD panel to top off the look. The phone also had a 3200 mAh battery with wireless charging built in if you want to get a charger for convenience. Sold yet? If not, this may not be the device for you after all, Sony fans (or fanboys, which I doubt the accuracy of if you didn’t bat an eyelash at those specifications).
Regardless, the Sony Xperia Z2 is great for those that travel, since it has LTE bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 13, 17, and 20, and that’s the international model that’s being sold in Sony’s online store, by the way. If you’re a traveler with the need for a tough yet professional looking device, or just a fan with a SIM card and some cash, then definitely go pick this one up. And if you’re on Verizon, yeah don’t hold your breath waiting for Big Red to get the Z2 just yet.
