Sprint Sends out invite to "Take the Edge Off" Event in NYC on August 19th

This morning, Sprint began sending out invites to an event they are holding next month in New York City. The invite doesn’t really point to much of anything, and we have no idea what they might be announcing as we’ve had no leaks or rumors about Sprint in the past few weeks – well other than the T-Mobile/Sprint merger. It could be Sprint announcing something to compete with Verizon’s EDGE program, or maybe something about being on the bleeding edge of technology? Of course, it could also be related to their network, which is what I’m sure many are hoping for. It’s tough to say at this point. But what we can say is that we will be covering this event as always, and will bring you all the details as they become available.

For those that are Sprint users, you’ll want to mark your calendars for August 19th. We’re hoping for some network news, but we’ll probably see some new devices as well, like maybe some exclusives for Sprint. The last Sprint event they held they talked about their network and how they are improving it dramatically. But they also announced the Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport. So we may see another exclusive device for Sprint. Maybe they’ll get the HTC One Mini 2 and rename it to something else, like Verizon did – HTC One Remix which launched today.

We do love Sprint here, even though their network could use a ton of help. We do wish them the best and hope that Massayoshi Son can turn that company and network around. As I think they’d be a really good competitor to Verizon and AT&T, if they could get their data network up to par. But as for now, it’s pretty sad in a lot of areas. Sure it’s all about location, but their network could still use a lot of work.
