Beginning July 17th, those of you still on Verizon prepaid will see a nice upgrade – that is of course if you have a 4G LTE capable device – as Verizon is turning on 4G LTE for their prepaid customers. Up until this point, those on Verizon Prepaid have had to suffer with Verizon’s diminishing 3G network. Which has gotten dreadfully slow, and in my experience it’s gotten even slower than Sprint’s 3G network. With the ALLSET plans, you can bring your own device and you won’t need to worry about contracts at all. But remember that most phones that are unlocked, will not work on Verizon’s network, since they are still partially a CDMA network. However, all XLTE capable devices will be supported.

And with BRIDGE DATA, customers can customize their usage allowances by adding data to their account whenever they want. Any unused data from the current monthly cycle will move to the next, so customers pay for what they need without extra fees or overcharge charges.”
While their plans aren’t that amazing, it’s still pretty cheap for being on Verizon. This isn’t exactly competing with AT&T and T-Mobile’s prepaid plans or their MVNO’s but it’s definitely a step up from the 3G only network that prepaid users were experiencing before hand.
With prepaid becoming the “next big thing” sorry Samsung, it’s great to see Verizon beginning to pay attention to their prepaid plans. As a lot of people are buying unlocked or off contract phones these days, and don’t need to be on postpaid – where they are still paying a subsidy for a phone they didn’t buy – and it makes plenty of sense because you can leave at any time.
