For a while, YouTube has been all about average people like you and me being able to upload videos and maybe making a bit of money off of them. Well for some people it’s more than just a bit of money. But YouTube has been looking to bring in some more high-quality content, from Hollywood and independent producers. So lately they’ve been looking to recruit a few to produce some content for YouTube. Although they do want content that will be shorter than the 30 minute videos that Amazon, Netflix and Hulu+ have been doing. This is important for YouTube because it’s necessary to get higher-priced advertising. Which can be good for both YouTube and it’s users.
“We are always exploring various content and marketing ideas to support and accelerate our creators,” a YouTube representative said in an email to Reuters. Although YouTube did decide to decline on reports of these meetings. This round of discussions are just being initialized so that we are in the early stages, and what happens at these talks may never actually happen. There’s rumors that YouTube may be offering between $1 and $3 million for producers to produce a new series, as well as contributing a nice marketing budget to these producers. It sounds like a pretty good incentive to me, what about you?
YouTube has always provided great resources for their content creators. From ad revenue to other tools to help enhance their videos. For instance, they provide a ton of royalty free music that can be used in your videos as well as the ability to add captions and links on your video. YouTube really makes it easy for more and more people to start their own channel and rake in some extra cash. Especially with Google+ being integrated now. But what if YouTube got it’s own exclusive shows like Netflix’s Orange is the New Black? Or House of Cards? I think that would definitely change stuff, right?
