It has been quite a while since Acer released its last 10″ tablet. Acer Iconia Tab A3 was announced at last year’s IFA in Berlin and released a few months after that. That device was mid-range at best. Sporting a MediaTek quad-core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB of RAM and a 10.1″ 1280 x 780 screen among other specifications. It was about time Acer released a refresh to this thing and it has finally happened it seems.
Acer A3-A20 is Acer’s new 10.1″ tablet. The body of the device has metallic looks as you can see in the pictures, but it seems to be made from polycarbonate (or plastic if you will). Most of the front portion of the device is covered by a 10.1″ (1280 x 800) IPS display, still a little bit low in resolution though. You’ll also find a 2MP camera on the front of the device while there’s a 5MP shooter on the back. The thing is powered by MediaTek’s MT8127 1.3GHz quad-core CPU and it has 1GB or DDR3 RAM inside. As far as internal storage goes, you have 2 options, 16 or 32GB (expandable via MicroSD card up to 32GB). There’s a 3,540mAh battery powering this thing inside and the device comes with Android 4.4 KitKat pre-installed. The device is currently available only in Wi-Fi variant though other version might show up soon.
The device popped up on Acer’s official Spanish webpage as well as some other online stores, mainly in Spain though. No word on when it might come (or will it come) to the U.S. though. This device will set you back 199 Euro (which is about $266 when converted). This is not exactly a huge price tag, but I still think it’s a bit much for a device like this.
