AndroidTO is Returning October 30 for 5th Annual Conference

AndroidTO is back, and it promises to be bigger and better than ever – Canada’s largest Android design and business conference will be held in Toronto on Thursday, October 30.  As the conference expands and changes, so has the venue this year – the ScotiaBank Theatre’s popcorn-like atmosphere is being replaced by the fancier setting of the MaRS Discovery District.   If you register for the event by September 12, you can still grab a ticket for $99 – after that you will have to pay the full price of $125.

This year’s AndroidTO will go back to its roots with more of an emphasis directed towards the developer.  There many exciting things to discuss this year and narrowing it down to developers make sense, especially since Google introduced Android L and we need to make use of its many features – probably the biggest thing to happen to Android since 2.0, as Google has really altered its design language with lots of new features.  With all of the new trends at Google, including their new Material Design, Android Wear operating system for wearables, the push for Android Auto with car manufacturers and Android TV trying to invade our homes, it will be a wonder they can get it done in one day.

This year’s AndroidTO is sponsored by DX3 Canada, MaRS, Sony and longtime conference co-founder BNOTIONS.  The speaker agenda will have something for everybody to enjoy with many diverse topics.  Matthew Patience from BNOTIONS will discuss, Material Girl – how to apply the concepts of material design to your application while still remaining unique and true to your concept.  Cecillia Abadie from LYNXFIT will talk about Android for Wearables – she will explain the world of wearables and its challenges and opportunities from Google Glass to smart watches.  Danesh Mondegarian from CYANOGENMOD will talk about Contributing to Android – an introduction to coding for Android and the wonders of an AOSP.  Nikita Tarakanov from BIONYM will discuss Integrating the Nymi Persistent Identity Solution into Android Apps.  Tejas Lagvankar from YAHOO will talk about Developing for Android TV: Getting Started – he will walk you through a step-by-step process for creating your own TV App.  Kevin Grant from TUMBLR will talk about Motion in Android and L Animations.  And Macy Kuang from MIAO MIAO GAMES will discuss Building Android Wear Apps – by the end of her workshop, you will have a complete App running on an Android Wear watch or Emulator.

Please hook up with us on our Google+ Page and let us know if you will be attending the AndroidTO this year and what part are you most excited about…as always, we would love to hear from you.
