Archos isnât known for high-end devices, but rather cheap, low-end specâd devices. Like the 80 Helium, which as you probably expected with the â80â in the name, is an 8-inch tablet with 4G LTE. It has a 1024Ã768 resolution display, along with a quad-core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of onboard storage, along with a 5MP camera on the back and a 2MP front-facing shooter. Thereâs also Android 4.3 Jelly Bean for £199. Which isnât too bad, I guess. But you could probably do better with a refurbished Nexus 7 or even a refurbished LG G Pad 8.3 which would be closer in terms of size.Â
Itâs not the best tablet out there, but it does have 4G LTE connectivity, which is pretty hard to find on a tablet in this price range. And obviously that will affect the specs inside. But if you just need a tablet that you can check email, Twitter, etc., on, this will do the trick. Archos actually announced this tablet â along with some others â all the way back in February at Mobile World Congress. Itâs finally available though, but only in the UK so far. We have no idea when itâll be available in other countries. Hopefully Archos will make it available elsewhere, as Iâm sure others would love to at least check out Archos products, which often times donât make it out of the UK or Europe.
While itâs not a contender for tablet of the year, or the Samsung Galaxy Tab S, itâs still a neat tablet. Given that itâs only in the UK right now, I doubt that it will sell all that well, but itâs worth a try. How many of you in the UK are looking forward to picking up the Archos 80 Helium tablet with 4G LTE over there? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
