Chrome OS’ development is proceeding as planned. The platform keeps on getting better and enjoys great support by the developers and Google itself. It seems that Chrome OS got a new beta feature within the “Get Help” app, OMGChrome reports based on a report from one of their readers. After opening the app a blue link appeared on the bottom stating “Questions? Contact us (BETA)”, as you can see on the image above. Clicking the link leads to one-on-one live support with a Chrome agent waiting on the other side. This portal also shared a rather funny image proving that the service is not available 24/7, which you can find below the article.
On the other had Google already has an e-mail and call support service for Chromebook users, which is free of course. This service also got a lot of praise from Chromebook users, they say that the agents are very patient, pleasant and knowledgeable. If Google manages to achieve that with this new one-on-one service that would be quite an achievement. Chromebook sales are constantly rising, which is completely normal considering the prices these things sell at and how capable they are for the price. They are perceived as low-budget laptops and that’s accurate, but you get a lot of bang for the buck as long as you don’t plan on installing any programs on there, do some serious video editing or play serious games. Chromebooks are basically aimed at students and people who don’t mind living in the cloud, if I can say it like that. If you rely heavily on Google services, Chrome and its apps and you want a rather fast and yet cheap laptop, then one of these might be just the thing you need. Keep in mind though that not every Chromebook performs as well as you might need it to, this might require some additional digging to find an ideal one for you, luckily there are lots of options out there to choose from.
Do you own a Chromebook or intend to buy one? What’s your experience with Chrome OS-powered machines if you did have experience with them?
