There really is an app for everything – productivity, gaming, notifications, cooking/recipe, sports/exercising, educational, health and now there is even a political app. The City of Ottawa released an app to help cover the election and educate citizens with up-to-date information concerning the upcoming Ottawa Election 2014 on October 27. Ottawa Elections 2014 is an app that is available for the Android, iOS and BlackBerry platforms – those on Windows Phone are out of luck…I guess they don’t want their votes, or maybe there are too few users to make a difference. One of the worst things about an election is the lack of voters coming out to the polls on Election Day – hopefully this app will help.
According to their website, it is an all-in-one app to keep voters abreast of what is going on in regards to “General Information” – a Dynamic Countdown Clock to Voting Day – a List of Registered Candidates and Contact Information – General Information for Voters – Information on Advance Voting and on Voting Day – and Unofficial Election Results. It also has Search and Location Tools such as – Where to Vote – Am I on the Voters’ List – Ward Maps – and Voting Location Maps. There is also a list for Contacting the Election Office – How to Become a Candidate – How to Become an Election Worker – and Elections Office Contact Information.
The City of Ottawa is holding municipal elections to elect a new Mayor, City Councilors and School Board Trustees on Monday 27, 2014. During this important period leading up to the elections, this app will help keep potential voters informed on their candidates. Possibly, this app will encourage more people to follow the election, gain an interest in educating themselves and in actually voting at election time. There is such an apathetic attitude when it comes to voting – maybe this app will change some of that apathy to an excitement in voting.
