The Gear Fit and The Gear 2 just took fitness to the next level with support for Endomondo, the popular sports tracking app for Android that can be used to map your routes through GPS if you’re out on a cycling trek or out running, measure distances, speed of travel, calories burned and many other useful fitness features. If you have never used Endomondo and you own a gear 2 or Gear Fit, it’s time to load the app up onto your devices and get things going. It is hands down the best fitness app you’ll ever use.
Viewing distance information and how many calories you’ve burnt during your latest workout are just a couple of the great things available to Gear 2 and Gear Fit users, but the Endomondo app also takes advantage of the heart rate sensor equipped on the Gear 2 for a little bit of extra information. To get the app on your Gear 2, you’ll need to go into your Gear Manager and download a companion app that presumably pairs to the original app on the phone, while users of the Gear Fit just have to download and install the app on their phone and open that up, with no companion app needed for the Gear Fit itself. Users will also be able to pause or stop workouts, which I find myself having to do more often than you’d think as sometimes you just need to stop and rest for a few minutes. That makes the pause feature extremely useful so you don’t interrupt your workout data.
Endomondo is not just a fitness tracking application though, it’s a complete fitness network, with contests and social boards that allow users to compete and converse with other like minded individuals who enjoy staying fit and staying active and want to share those experiences. If you use either the Gear 2 or the Gear Fit, you can grab the Endomondo app for free from the Play Store, although they offer Endomondo Premium with quite a few more features like personalized training plans, no ads, veiwing weather information in your workout summary’s, yearly and monthly fitness statistics and more. If you like to be active, and you use a Gear device, definitely pick this up and try it out.
