This year, the push has really been in wearables. Which we were all expecting, especially after Samsung jumped into the wearable space last fall with the Galaxy Gear. Google announced earlier this year, Android Wear. Which is basically Android built for smartwatches. At Google I/O this year, Google made Android Wear official, with the launch of the LG G Watch and the Samsung Gear Live, also the full SDK instead of the preview of the SDK. Now Google has released four commercials for Android Wear, indicating that they are really looking to push Android Wear now. Even though it’s still in pretty early beta or even alpha.
While these four new commercials from Google don’t really show us anything new, they do show those that may not be as into technology as we are, what Android Wear can do. Which is actually quite a bit. It really does come in handy a lot of times. But I’m still not sure it’s ready for primetime, and mass adoption. But perhaps that’s just me. They show things like asking how much an elephant weighs, without actually touching your watch. Stuff like that.
I’ve been using the LG G Watch for about a month or so now, and it’s a pretty good device. I’m still getting used to it, and everything it can do for me. But it’s really good for those that don’t work from home like myself. The Samsung Gear Live is quite good as well, from what I hear. While Android Wear is pretty good already, it still has a bit of a ways to go, before its ready for mass adoption, at least in my opinion. What do you all think?
