We are now looking at the third generation of the HP Chromebook 11. The last time they refreshed this model, it left us asking “Why?” but with the third generation there’s a lot more to love. Even though all they did was swap out Samsung’s Exynos 5250 processor for the latest Bay Trail from Intel. The Intel Celeron N2830. The casing appears to be the same as the second generation of the HP Chromebook 11. But instead we have Bay Trail here, and it’s now x86 instead of ARM. It’s also clocked at 2.16GHz and now supports up to 4GB of RAM. It measures in at 11.8″ x 8.1″ x 0.83″ and weighs about 2.8 pounds.
The HP Chromebook 11 G3 also features; 11.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display, 16GB eMMC storage, 802.11ac and 802.11n WiFi options, Bluetooth 4.0, Optional 4G LTE/HSPA+, 1 USB 3.0 ports, 1 USB 2.0 ports, HDMI and headset jack, Stereo speakers, and a 36Whr battery. The battery should last a good 9 hours or so though, on the HP Chromebook 11.
So far there’s no word on when this model will be available, or how much it’ll cost, as it’s slightly official. Since +Alvin Chin spotted the document in their support docs. According to HP this model also has a TPM 1.2 embedded security chip. Which makes us think that this could be aimed at the enterprise customers. Which would make sense especially after the report we saw earlier today from The Information regarding HP trying to make a Nexus aimed at Enterprise customers.
So here we have another Chromebook from HP. But would you pick this one up? I probably would, but I’d want it to have at lesast 4GB of RAM, as from my experience 2GB of RAM just isn’t enough for me. Now it might be for others, but for me it isn’t. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
