We’ve been seeing a ton of Nexus smartphone rumors lately, with Motorola being the reported manufacturer of the device.The Nexus tablet was a hot topic for a long time, but then the reports basically stopped. We do have a big rumor to share with you today though. As you already probably know, HTC is expected to manufacture the upcoming Nexus tablet. New report claims the device will sport a 64-bit Tegra K1 processor, which was mentioned in the previous report. Though this time we have some proof, TK Tech News shared a CPU-Z report which shows us some CPU details. The report says the upcoming Nexus tablet will sport a Tegra K1 processor closed at 2.5GHz with an amazing 192-core Kepler GPU. This is a beast of a SoC for sure and quite frankly I’m a bit skeptical when it comes to this, considering Nexus tablets are meant to be low-priced. However, the report seems legit and CPU-Z reports are basically impossible to fake. This chip’s GPU is supposed to 1.5 times more efficient than any other mobile GPU, at least according to Nvidia. Not only that, but it is supposed to me less power hungry and well optimized. It also fully supports DirectX 11 and OpenGL 4.4, this SoC is beast basically.
Other than this chip, the upcoming HTC-made Nexus tablet (also dubbed Flounder, Volantis , T1 and Nexus 9) is rumored to sport an 8.9-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) display along with 4GB of RAM and a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera. 1.6-megapixel shooter is expected to be located at the front of the device with Qualcomm’s LTE modem (MDM9x25) also expected to be featured in this device. The upcoming Nexus tablet is also expected to come with Android “L” pre-installed and according to report will feature HTC’s front-facing speakers as well. I’ve already said that I’m kind of skeptical when it comes to this device’s SoC, well, the same thing goes for its rumored specifications. It would be hard to fit all this into a Nexus tablet and keep its price low. We can hope though, the tablet is expected to launch in the coming months considering it’s been over a years since Google has launched Nexus 7 (2013) and almost 2 years has passed since the Nexus 10 was launched. No word on the exact date though, so stay tuned.
