Huawei Releases Teaser for IFA 2014, Ascend Mate 7 Coming Next Week?

Next week is going to be a very busy week for us. IFA’s press days are September 3rd and 4th, and we’ve got a boat load of press conferences on those two days. Huawei is one of those press conferences. Huawei is set to announce a few things at IFA 2014, but the one that is the most prominent is the Ascend Mate 7. Which we had heard some rumors in the past few weeks about it, but this latest teaser has got us thinking about the Ascend Mate 7 once again. You can check out the teaser video down below. The name of the video is “7 Mates for 7 Dreamers”, pretty subtle right?

According to the latest TENAA report (that’s basically the FCC in China), the Ascend Mate 7 is said to sport  a 6.0-inch full-HD display (there’s rumor of a QHD variant as well), Huawei’s Hisilicon octa-core Kirin 920 SoC that features four 1.8 GHz Cortex A15 cores and four 1.3 GHz Cortex A7 cores, LTE Cat. 6 connectivity and 4K video recording. So it’s a pretty big step up from the Ascend Mate 2 which they announced at CES earlier this year. The Ascend Mate 2 was basically a mid-range big phone. While the Ascend Mate 7 is looking like it’ll be a high-end big phone. Which I know a lot of people are looking for.

In addition to the Ascend Mate 7, Huawei is also said to be launching a Sapphire Display version of the Ascend P7, which they made official a few months ago. Now we’ve already got a Sapphire Display smartphone here in hand, which is the Kyocera Brigadier. They also sent over all kinds of things for us to try and scratch up the display, including a sharp knife, well no scratches. So Sapphire is definitely something we want on our next smartphone.
