Lenovo is making a big name for itself as one of China’s largest multinational computer technology companies that make not only PCs, but also notebooks, tablets and smartphones. They recently purchased Motorola from Google, although the deal has not yet been finalized, to further their smartphone sales, which up until now has been almost exclusively in Asia. But one thing is for sure, Lenovo knows how to grow their business and they also recognize that PCs are on the down swing – even though they surpassed HP as the world’s largest manufacturer of PCs – and they know that tablets and smartphones are the key to longevity.
What we have not yet seen from Lenovo is any form of wearable, that is, up until now – it appears that a device was recently approved that is the Lenovo SW-B100, and is described as a “Bluetooth low (4.0 LE) energy Activity Tracker with optical [sensor for] Heart rate.” This will be a first for Lenovo, but we knew it was only a matter of time before they would go into wearables. We have no pictures yet of the device, but we should see it at the IFA 2014, where this and possible other wearables will be discussed.
There was also several tablets listed and our source believes that it is an upgraded Android YOGA tablet, the Lenovo YOGA Tablet 2 Pro-1380F and model 1380L – most likely depicting a Wi-Fi only version and a Wi-Fi / LTE version. The name gives us some important information: One, it will have a 13-inch display – secondly it will belong to the family Yoga Tablet 2 Pro series – and lastly it will most likely be designed for Professional usage, with such things as a high-res display or fingerprint scanner. With the ‘Pro’ designation it is hard to tell whether it will be a Windows tablet or keep with the Android operating system. Please hook up with us on our Google+ Page and and let us know if you are happy to see Lenovo moving into the smartband field or are you still waiting for their smartphones to start arriving on our shores…as always, we would love to hear from you.
