It was obvious LG has a beast on its hands when they announced their G3 flagship back in May. The really managed to pack a lot of punch in that device while keeping the device relatively manageable in size, especially considering that huge 5.5-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) display on the front. The design of this device is spot on and not a lot of people would disagree with that I believe. Of course, there were some objections to the screen size, LG’s software and the fact QHD screen is maybe not even necessary in a smartphone… those things are a completely different story though.
It was obvious LG G3 will sell like hot cakes globally after it had an incredibly successful start in Korea and crushed in the first few days after it went on sale. LG G3 also did extremely well globally as soon as it was launched outside of Korea, it helped LG ship 14.5 million smartphones in Q2 this year. New report from Korea Times says that the G3 will be LG’s first smartphone to reach 10 million units sold, though they didn’t say when they expect it to hit the 10 million mark. “LG has emerged as a new game-changer in a number of fields. LG Electronics’ latest flagship, the G3 smartphone, will exceed the 10 million sales mark for the first time since we entered the smartphone industry,” the official statement said.
Other than the aforementioned display, LG G3 is sporting a Snapdragon 801 quad-core CPU clocked at 2.5GHz along with Adreno 330 GPU and a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with dual-LED flash and a laser autofocus capabilities. The phone comes in 2 storage and RAM versions, either the 2GB version with 16GB of internal storage or 3GB with 32GB of internal storage, both of which are expandable via MicroSD card up to 128GB. The phone also has a 2.1-megapixel front-facing shooter and a 3,000mAh replaceable battery.
It seems like LG is on the right path as of late. LG G3 is a great smartphone, as well as its predecessor, the LG G2. Sales are going as planned for LG, maybe even better than they expected. What are your thoughts on the LG G3? Do you own one?
