For a while, Sonos has been king when it comes to streaming music speakers. But LG is looking to dethrone them with their Music Flow. The system has various parts with model designations H3, H5 and H7, plus a soundbar, HS6, and a network bridge that ties it all together, R1. It works with it’s own Music Flow player smartphone application. So you can control the system wirelessly. Much like you can with Sonos.
LG Music Flow also has support for LG Homechat which has support for commands through the LG App Line. It does also have NFC support so you can control the speaker system through a simple NFC tag, which is always cool. With the Auto Music Play functionality, it means that users can also choose where they want to play the music. For instance if they leave the kitchen and head into the living room or their home office, they can switch it to the speaker in that room very easily.
LG hasn’t yet announced the pricing for the LG Music Flow. However, it is very likely that it’ll be on display at IFA 2014 in Berlin which begins on September 5th (well press conferences are on the 3rd and 4th). It definitely looks like a nice streaming music system, but don’t expect it to be cheap. Especially with everything it can do. Hopefully we’ll get a release date and some pricing from LG fairly soon. It’s a great looking speaker system, and one I’d definitely like to get my hands on once it’s available.
