Meizu Looking to use Sony's 20.7MP Camera in their MX4?

Various news outlets in Meizu’s home country – that’s China for those that didn’t know – are reporting today that Meizu is looking at using Sony’s 20.7MP camera in their next device. The MX4. Now this would be the same camera that you find in the Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1s and the Xperia Z2 (likely to be in the Xperia Z3 as well). Which those cameras take some amazing shots already. The Meizu MX3, has a 8MP camera, but still does take some really good shots – although at this point, most smartphones take great shots, it just depends on the user.

As far as what other specs we could be seeing in the Meizu MX4? Well likely a 5.4-inch 2560×1440 resolution display (similar to the LG G3, and Oppo Find 7), as well as a MediaTek MT6595 octa-core big.LITTLE SoC processor running the show. Which means it’ll be a cheap device. But then again, Meizu’s devices are always cheap, and that’s why we want them to come to the US. This would also be the first Meizu phone to offer a MediaTek processor inside. As typically they used Samsung’s Exynos processors in the past. And everyone once in a while there’d be a Snapdragon chip from Qualcomm.

We’re actually expecting the Meizu MX4 to be released next month – if we go by their previous release cycle – and Meizu is going to have quite the competition if they do that. Because we’ve got the iPhone 6, Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Moto X+1, and likely a few other devices coming out in September as well. It’ll be real interesting to see if Meizu can keep up with the competition come September. How many of you are interested in seeing a 20.7MP Sony sensor in the Meizu MX4 when it gets released?
