Moto G2 Launching September 10th for €250

Here’s some interesting news today, it appears that GSM Arena was informed by their source that the Moto G2 will go on sale beginning September 10th, and will be priced around â‚¬250. This is interesting because it’s about double the Moto G’s price and about 25% higher than the Moto G 4G LTE model. And the huge selling point for the Moto G is the fact that it is a cheap handset with adequate specs, and if it does retail for this price, it’s not going to sell as well as the Moto G did.

As far as specs go, we’re looking at a 5-inch 720p display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor inside, Adreno 305 GPU, 1GB of RAM, 8MP rear-facing camera, 2MP front-facing camera, Android 4.4.4 (since Android L won’t be released by September 10th) along with 8GB of storage. No word on a micro SD card slot just yet, but since the Moto G 4G LTE does feature one, I wouldn’t be surprised to see one on the Moto G2.

Last year, Motorola did have an event for their Moto G announcement. But that doesn’t mean we’ll have one this year. We may just get a press release saying it’s official and you can buy it now, etc. However, most of the IFA press conferences are taking place on September 3rd and 4th, and so far no word on whether Motorola will have an event or not, so we’ll have to wait and see what happens.

We reviewed the Moto G earlier this year, and I have to say it’s still one of my favorite “cheap” phones, and I have reviewed quite a few in the past 12-18 months. Including a number of BLU phones. For the price of the Moto G, it’s a no brainer, especially since they aren’t a “new” company. We’ll have to wait and see what other upgrades the Moto G2 adds for the increase in price, before we judge it though.
