Nanu is a Free App that Makes Free Calls to Anywhere, Even on a 2G Network

Emerging markets face difficult challenges when it comes to the multimedia-heavy centric view of the Internet we hold.  While it’s easy for many countries with 4G LTE technologies to easily pull up streaming HD video and make calls over video services like Skype and Google Hangouts, some other markets struggle with a small 2G pipeline that will never effectively get video calls over the network.  There can also be a huge cost factor with calls and data on these networks, especially when calling outside of the country.  Nanu is devised specifically for these types of scenarios, but easily rolls itself into plenty of others as well.

If you’re tired of paying for minutes on your plan and would rather just use data instead, even if you’re on a 2G network, Nanu can deliver your calls for free with an advertisement at the beginning of each.  Nanu is a small start up founded by a father and son team, and aims to bring free calls to everyone, everywhere.  Right now free unlimited calls are only from Nanu to Nanu users, however calling to any other network or type of line works for 15 minutes.  As more users jump on the service the promise is that there will be more minutes for everyone to use.  Right now Nanu has partnered with companies like KFC, HTC, Nestle, PayPal and plenty of others to ensure that you don’t hear the same boring ads all the time, and with these sorts of backers you better believe there’s plenty of capital once the app takes off.

Right now Nanu can make calls to landlines in 41 different countries, while mobile to mobile calling is currently restricted to India, Thailand, Singapore, Spain, Germany, Israel, Ireland, Hungary and the US.  It’s impossible to pay for credit with the service, as they’ve promised free calling for everyone and they intend to deliver just that.  Check out the app link below and hit up the official website for all the details.
