Remember the days when Panasonic made some of the most awesome electronics? Back in the day it was a privilege to own a Panasonic cell phone. That seems to have quickly changed, as we don’t hear about them much anymore but that doesn’t mean that they have stopped producing mobile phones and in fact, they have just launched a new device for the Indian market called the Panasonic Eluga A. the Eluga A is a follow up to a previous device Panasonic had launched in India called the Eluga U, which suggests that the device was popular enough in the region to warrant the launch of a second device in the series.
The Eluga A is sporting a 5-inch FWVGA display, so it won’t exactly be turning heads the way that the 2K screen on the G3 does, but it suffices for the Eluga A. Panasonic equipped the phone with a 1.3MP front facing camera and an 8MP rear facing camera with LED flash, and inside powering the Eluga A’s functions is the Snapdragon 200 CPU, which is a quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz, and the Adreno 302 GPU handles the graphics. The phone is running on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out of the box, so it’s a bit behind the times with the latest software. It also carries dual-sim capabilities so the phone can be switched between SIM cards at the users discretion.
It comes with only 1GB of RAM and a low 4GB internal storage, however you can slip in a microSD card up to 32GB in size if you need more space. It has support for multiple Indian languages like Hindi, Bengali and others, and a 2,000 mAh battery along with support for 3G HSPA+ networks, WiFi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 and GPS. The Eluga A sports Panasonic’s Fit Home UI, and it holds a feature they like to emphasize on which is the single hand operation for ease of use. It also features the Kwik Lok double tap, which lets users lock the screen by tapping on it twice. The Panasonic Eluga A is more of a low end device, and comes in two colors, Black and White, and will cost Rs. 9,490(around $156 USD) for anyone that will be looking to pick one of these up.
