Looks like Samsung has more Galaxy Alpha-like smartphones in it’s pipeline. You know those that are made of metal. According to a report out of Sammobile, it appears that Samsung is going to be making a new line of smartphones, called the “A Series”, which you can probably guess will be the Galaxy A. Seeing as everything running Android is “Galaxy”.
This same report from Sammobile is saying that Samsung is looking to release three more Samsung A series models this quarter. That’s the SM-A300, SM-A500 and SM-A700. Now the A300 is said to be featuring a qHD display. Now that’s a lowercase q, meaning 960×540 and not 2560×1440 resolution. While the A500- and A700 will both feature HD – that’s 720p – displays. Samsung is also said to be adding in better front-facing cameras as well as keeping that “premium” design we saw on the Galaxy Alpha a few weeks ago. So it appears the A series won’t be the most high-end lineup of smartphones, but we should see some nicer mid-range and low-end smartphones from Samsung. Which is also needed. Especially as the market for low-end and mid-range devices begins to heat up, thanks in part to the Moto G from last year.
So far, there’s no release date for these newer A series smartphones. But it appears that they will be available this quarter which ends on September 30th. So while we could see Samsung announce these at IFA next week, I think it’s pretty unlikely. They’ll likely have a small event in Korea in the next few weeks to announce these newer devices.
How many of you are interested in these A series smartphones from Samsung with higher specs? I’d definitely be interested in a Galaxy Alpha build of the Galaxy S5. But then again, I didn’t really hate the build of the Galaxy S5 anyways.
