Over the weekend, LG put out renders and teasers of their circular smartwatch. And that got everyone talking about how Motorola has waited too long to put out their own Moto 360, which everyone fell in love with thanks to the circular display. Now both LG and Samsung are getting ready to announce their own smartwatches with circular displays. The latest rumor is coming out of Sammobile today, that Samsung’s Gear Solo will have a circular display, as well as it’s own SIM card slot to be a standalone smartwatch. It’s reportedly coming with the Galaxy Note 4 which will be launched on September 3rd at Samsung’s Unpacked 2014 Episode 2 event in Berlin, Germany.
Sammobile’s source is claiming that the Gear VR won’t be the only wearable Samsung shows off at IFA next week. That the Gear Solo will also be making an appearance. Which we don’t know a whole lot about this wearable just yet. But what we can tell the major differences over the Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo is the circular display and the SIM card slot, making it a standalone smartwatch. Meaning it doesn’t need to be tethered to your smartphone to give you notifications and other information.
It’s quite possible that this is Samsung’s answer to the Moto 360 and LG’s new circular smartwatch which was teased over the weekend. As users have obviously shown interest in this type of smartwatch. As it looks more like a watch and less like a computer strapped to your wrist. How many of you are excited for Unpacked 2014 Episode 2 in Berlin next week? The action starts at 9am ET, 6am PT. Since Berlin is 6 hours ahead of us. It’ll definitely be interesting to see what all Samsung announces next week. Let us know your thoughts on this Gear Solo in the comments down below.
