Samsung Galaxy Alpha: New Photo and September Release Date Tipped

It’s only Monday and already the Samsung Galaxy Alpha rumors are churning, again.  This time our source has a new leaked picture of the Galaxy Alpha and is hinting that the worldwide release date will be in late September and that we will learn more about it at IFA Berlin…they are also putting a price tag on it of 500 EUR or about $670.  This does seem like a strange time to release a new Galaxy device to compete with the new Galaxy Note 4 that is also scheduled to be released that same period, although a Korean News site claims that we may see the Galaxy Alpha in as little as thirteen days.  The September release would coincide nicely to do battle against the new Apple iPhone 6S.

The source also reiterated that the Galaxy Alpha will not be made entirely of metal construction – only the frame and side pieces, as seen here in another leak we posted, will actually be made out of aluminum.  Most likely the back with be made from Samsung’s favorite new material – faux leather – that can give the device a nice appearance (see Galaxy Note 3) or cause a lot of controversy (see Galaxy S5)…and from what we have seen and heard, it looks like the Galaxy Alpha may keep the ‘dimpled’ look of the Galaxy S5.  The source also said that this picture was taken the last week in July, but they are still working on some “bugs” in the software…perhaps a newer, lighter TouchWiz?

Without much change in the overall looks from the Galaxy S5, it appears that Samsung is just trying to determine if the metal housing and pricing will have much effect on the sales of the device.  The only problem with Samsung’s experiment is that they are changing too many factors to determine if the metal casing will really make the difference in sales.  The Samsung Galaxy Alpha is expected to only sport a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED HD display with a 1280 x 720 resolution, with an octa-core Exynos 5433 processor and 2GB of RAM and either 32GB or 64GB of internal memory.  The main camera is thought to be 12MP along with a 2.1MP front-facing camera for video chatting and selfies.  It will, of course, be running 4.4 KitKat and will come with a 128GB microSD card slot for added memory.

Please hit us up on our Google+ Page and let us know if you would purchase such a device or is it too little, too late…as always, we would love to hear from you.
