We love to see leaks concerning upcoming devices – especially when they are about the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and from an exclusive source that normally is fairly accurate when it comes to all things Samsung. Samsung has taken a lot of criticism in their camera area, and rightly so when it comes to not including an Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). There have been many rumors floating around that have concentrated about the camera on the new Galaxy Note 4 and it looks like this could be the final word on its camera. For starters, according to our source, it will contain a 16MP Sony IMX240 camera sensor, like the one on the new Korean Galaxy S5 Broadband LTE-A, only the one on the Note 4 will have OIS – finally, Samsung got this one right. It is capable of shooting UHD (3840 x 2160) video at 30FPS. Samsung also made changes to the front-facing camera (FFC) as well – after using a 2.1MP for the past couple of years, they have finally upped it to a 3.7MP camera which can capture video chatting in WQHD (2560 x 1440) resolution.
Another interesting feature is the Galaxy Note 4 should actually have the new feature called Side Touch – once thought to be coming on the Galaxy S5, but it was a no-show. The technology involves a sensor built into the bottom right side of the device – the same place a physical button would be located – where you would simply touch the device with your finger to snap a picture. It is a great idea – no protruding button, but yet a comfortable way to snap a picture while firmly grasping the device. There are limitations to Side Touch – no Portrait Mode or Easy Mode. Moving from hardware to software – our sources report that Samsung has created a gesture-based shortcut for quickly accessing the camera when the screen is off. Much like the LG KnockOn, you would tap the screen with two fingers and swipe them apart. Samsung will also include four new camera modes and three are used strictly for selfies – Wide Selfie, Selfie, and Selfie Alarm – and one called Create A GIF File. Samsung will also bring over all of the Galaxy S5’s camera features as well – HDR Live, Selective Focus, Fast Auto-focus and more.
