The Galaxy Note 4 certainly has some interesting tech coming its way, although not all in the form of built in features and tech, but also accessories. We were already expecting the Galaxy Note 4 from Samsung to house the fingerprint scanner that we have seen on the Galaxy S5 and the new line of Galaxy Tab S tablets, as well as the Galaxy Alpha, but today were learning that the fingerprint scanner technology is reportedly going to be handled all by Synaptics Natural ID solutions, which are in fact the same technologies used in the S5 and the Alpha device. One might wonder then, is that really a surprise since two sets of devices already use this company tech? It would stand to reason that any future products that Samsung uses(at least for a while)that utilize the fingerprint scanning technology in it would use the same tech as the prior Samsung devices it was debuted on.
While the company behind the fingerprint scanning technology may not have changed, Samsung is reportedly bringing some new fingerprint scanning features to the new device. Fingerprint shortcuts will be one of the new fingerprint features coming to the Galaxy Note 4 this Fall, but don’t fret S5 users, the Galaxy S5 is allegedly confirmed by Samsung to get this feature in updates down the line. Fingerprint shortcuts will allow users to assign app shortcuts to specific registered fingerprints, thus you can open up all your apps from the lockscreen using just your fingerprint. Essentially this is just a flashy new way to assign shortcuts to the lockscreen, but now users can use shortcuts from the lockscreen even if they have the fingerprint scanner lock enabled.
Another new fingerprint scanner feature is the ability to sign in to webpages using just your fingerprint. The initial setup requires logging in traditionally of course, by typing in your credentials but afterwards users are then given the opportunity to turn on the fingerprint scanner feature to log in every time from then on. Samsung may have more feature details up their sleeves saved for the event, which is scheduled to take place on September 3rd as part of the IFA event. Do you find these new Galaxy Note 4 fingerprint features useful?
