Samsung And Russia Go Yachting For The Galaxy Alpha?

Prepare for some exciting and international Samsung news, this time regarding the Galaxy Alpha.  Well, we hope your weekend has been relaxing, but here comes some news, folks.  Today, we found out that the Samsung Galaxy alpha was the special guest of a PROyachting regatta in Moscow, Russia on Sunday the 10th.  We know this two ways. First, we have a set of photos from the Russian source showing, primarily, the device and the sign at the event.  The “Samsung Galaxy alpha Regatta by PROyachting 2014” was held on Sunday afternoon in Moscow.  Second, we got to see the device, as well as some select folks getting some nice hands-on time with the to-be-announced device from the South Korean manufacturer.  What’s more is that the event might signal the imminent announcement of the phone, reportedly as early as the 13th of this month.

At the event, because Samsung is obviously wanting people to know what device they were holding as well as its details, posted up a big sign of the specifications of the metal phone.  According to the board, we will have an Android 4.4-clad, with a category 4 LTE rating, a 12-and-2.1 back-and-front camera setup, a fingerprint sensor, heart rate monitor, and a nano-SIM slot.  Here’s where some of the stats get kind of interesting.  The Alpha will have a 1,860 (though labeled TBD, to-be-determined) mAh battery, an Exynos octa-core, with four at 1.8 and four at 1.3 Ghz, 2 GB of RAM, and 32 GB of internal storage.  The last two are shockers to many if not all of us though: NO micro SD card slot and a 720p 4.7-inch super AMOLED display.  Yeah.

This tale gets ever-stranger since the source, a Russian news site, hi-tech.mail.ru, has the page that would be the original source unlisted, inaccessible, and otherwise erased from the Internet.  Sorry you can’t read that yourself, folks.  But we do have some information from people who got a look at the site pre-vanishing, and it said that the phone might see a launch around the time of the iPhone this September.  What can we make of this?  I don’t think that anyone that didn’t see the original can really say, but the device exists, and it’s a little different than we saw.  But we do have something else for you guys, from the same event, sent into Brazilian tech site TecMundo, regarding the Alpha. The Brazilian site is how we know the various specifications according to Samsung.  The leak sent to the site included the shot of the specs board, as well as a full look0around of the device, and it compared to the iPhone 5S (which is actually quite nifty to see, if you ask me).  We included the whole set of photos for you in the second gallery down below.  This whole yacht party seems a little fishy to me, but regardless, we know and have seen more of the Galaxy Alpha from Samsung.
