Sony launched the Xperia T3 in some Asian markets already, but it’s beginning to head west and has made a stop over in Europe. It’s available beginning today from the Sony Store for £299 which translates to about $503USD, although it’s important to remember that if the Xperia T3 ever does come to the US, it’s likely not to be a straight conversion. The Xperia T3 features a 5.3-inch 1280×720 resolution IPS display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.4GHz, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, 8MP rear facing camera and a 1.1MP front-facing camera. There’s also a 2500mAh battery inside along with it running on Android 4.4.2 Kitkat. Which makes it a pretty low-end device, with still a pretty high price for this device. Which is what we expect from Sony, actually.
Sony calls the Xperia T3 the worlds thinnest 5.3-inch device. But it’s important to remember that there really aren’t any other 5.3 inch devices out there. They usually go 5, 5.1, 5.2, then 5.5 inches. But it’s about 7mm thin, so it is pretty darn thin. Although, much like many of you, I think I’d rather see a larger battery than have the world’s thinnest phone. But with a 2500mAh battery in there and a 720p display as well as the Snapdragon 400, you’ll probably be just fine. It’s interesting to see Sony in the mid-range and low-end spec game but not in that price game. Sony is much like Apple, in the fact you are paying for the brand. Which for many, that’s fine, but if you’re looking for a good smartphone and you don’t want to pay an arm and a leg, I’d still suggest the Moto G over the Sony Xperia T3.
