This morning, T-Mobile has yet another announcement. After announcing their new simply starter plan yesterday morning. T-Mobile has not announced that they are doubling the data for your tablet. What this means is that you are basically getting a separate data bucket for your tablet. Instead of sharing the same data bucket for your smartphone and tablet, like you do on most of T-Mobile’s competitors, you now have two buckets, one for each device. You can get up to 5GB of tablet data per month, which is a pretty good chunk.
Tablet data buckets aren’t all that’s new in today’s announcement from T-Mobile. Family plans also get an upgrade. They now have 10 lines that can be added. Prior to this, you could only add up to 5 lines on a shared plan. However, similar to the tablets data buckets, each device get it’s own data bucket. Basically, T-Mobile is like Oprah “You get a gig, you get a gig, you get a gig, and you get a gig”, right? While other carriers, most notably AT&T and Verizon have one data bucket for your entire family. So that if you’ve got four lines, all four lines share that same data bucket. Which means if you have kids on that plan, they’ll likely hog all the data. But that won’t happen on T-Mobile, thankfully.
So nothing too big, in terms of announcements from T-Mobile this week. Which is probably why we didn’t see Legere hold an event for this. But still some announcements that people will love. In fact, I know a few people that can jump onto T-Mobile’s new Simply Starter plan they announced yesterday, and I’m sure a few people will love the new Tablet plans and family plans. How about you?
