Earlier this week, we saw a leak for the Motorola Luge which looked just like the DROID Razr M from a couple of years ago. And it was slated to hit Verizon Prepaid pretty soon. And well now it has. Today, Verizon officially launched the Motorola Luge and it’s available now on prepaid. Speaking of prepaid, Verizon’s Prepaid just got 4G LTE connectivity, so there’s that. Verizon is selling the Motorola Luge for just $199, which is a bit more than the Moto G and honestly, we’d recommend the Moto G over the Luge. Unless you want/need LTE connectivity. Simply because the Moto G doesn’t have two year old specs right now.
Verizon and Motorola did upgrade the Motorola DROID Razr M, err Motorola Luge to Android 4.4.2, so at least it’s running on KitKat and it actually looks a bit better than the Droid Razr M did. As far as specs go, we’re looking at a 4.3-inch qHD display, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, 8MP rear camera, 2,000mAh battery, 8GB storage, micro SD slot, Android 4.4.2, and of course, 4G LTE. Not bad for $200 off-contract, but I’d still recommend the Moto G over this.
While we are used to flagship smartphones being repackaged – look at the HTC One M8 for Windows as an example – we even see them come back as mid-range phones. But to see a two-year old mid-range smartphone from Motorola (the old Motorola at that) come back to Verizon on prepaid, it makes us scratch our head. Maybe it’s that Verizon wanted an exclusive device from Motorola for prepaid? I’d rather Verizon pick up the LTE version of the Moto G than the Luge, what about the rest of you? What do you think about this repackaged Droid Razr M? Let us know in the comments down below.
