If You Want to Know Where Google Thinks You've Been Lately, Check This Out

Yes, that’s a map of me driving to my favorite pizza place for lunch the other day.  Rather crazy that Google knows this, isn’t it?  It probably shouldn’t be too much of a surprise given just how incredibly useful Google Now and all of Google’s other location-based services can be, but it’s something else entirely to see it in action.  As is the case with much of the information we either willingly or unknowingly share with Google, they’ve made an effort to store it on their servers and be completely transparent about what they have.  Just like all the other information Google stores, this location data can be removed and not saved in the future, or you can just delete a specific day’s history if you’re trying to be secretive.

But what if you’re just trying to figure out what time you were at a specific location, maybe for a job or proof for some other reason?  Or how about if you were on vacation and found a really amazing restaurant or scenic site but couldn’t remember exactly what it was called or where it was?  This is an incredibly powerful tool either way you use it, and it’s something that could come in handy more than once in your life.  Go ahead and bookmark this location for future reference, and make sure to check out everything that’s on the page too.

Other than the obvious date picker on the left and the links below it, you can change the date range that the map shows, so if you want to see all the places you’ve gone on that amazing 2-week vacation you just got back from, switch the picker to 14 days and it’ll automatically give you a 2-week range to view.  Obviously this relies on location data being present and enabled on your phone, so if you want this feature (or want to turn it off) be sure to head to your phone’s settings and then location information to change how this all works.  Have fun!
