We’ve been hearing rumors of a Nexus tablet coming this fall alongside a new Nexus smartphone. But what will it be named? We’ve heard Nexus 9, Nexus 8 and even Nexus 8.9. After all, it is pegged to be a 8.9-inch tablet from HTC. So it could very well be any of those names. Although we have nothing official just yet. I’d actually like to see Google go with a new naming scheme here. Especially if they go with Nexus 6 for their Nexus smartphone. Because pretty soon the smartphone and tablet names are going to overlap. So maybe the Nexus tab? Or something similar to that? Like Nexus Tab (2014), etc., it wouldn’t be as confusing as the Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 type names that Samsung uses, but would serve the same purpose in my opinion.
I’ve always been a fan of Nexus tablets, and we’ve been waiting on a new Nexus 10 for quite some time now. But that doesn’t appear to be happening anytime soon. Which means the Nexus 8.9 or whatever Google calls it will probably be the best thing they can get. HTC also makes really great hardware – which makes it puzzling as to why they sell as many as they do. I’ve loved their hardware and build quality for quite some time, I’ve even loved their software, and hopefully this Nexus 8/8.9/9 will help them increase their sales, as the Nexus program has shown to do that for manufacturers before. Just look at Samsung, ASUS and LG. All of which have seen nice raises in sales and profits after making a Nexus device.
So what do all of you think? Nexus 8? Nexus 8.9? Nexus 9? Or possibly Nexus Tab 2014? Be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments down below.
