Google Glass is most definitely still a niche product. These smartglasses were in a beta stage for a long time, Google has released Glass only to a limited number of people called Google Glass Explorers. Then a few months ago the US-based tech giant has made this smartglasses available to everyone who’s ready to spend $1500 for the product (which is the original price as well), as long as you live in US or UK (I believe those are the only markets Glass is available to) you can get a pair of the futuristic glasses. I believe everyone will agree this price is quite hefty and not many people can or want to spend that much money on something like this. We’ve heard a ton of rumors regarding several manufacturers and their plans to make a Glass competitor, though we haven’t seen any affordable offering thus far, until now that is.
CLOUD-I are the new smartglasses manufactured by Hong day Digital Technology. These smartglasses intend to compete with Google Glass but will cost four times less than Google’s offering. The device comes sporting Android 4.3 with low power consumption and voice commands. As far as connectivity goes, GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are all included in the package. CLOUD-I smartglasses have been in development for two years according to the manufacturer and it seems like the product will hit the market soon. These smartglasses look similar to Google Glass and are made from polymer alloy metal magnesium which reduces the weight of the device and it allegedly makes the product more resistant and increases its quality. The device is powered by MIPS processor and it should be able to run on standby for around 175 hours and 5 hours of continuous use. Pre-orders will be open in China soon and shipping should start on October 10. Price of these smartglasses will be around $370.
