Next to the very well-known and expected phablet Samsung has introduced at their pre-IFA event this year, Galaxy Note 4, they also introduced something not many people have expected (even though we’ve seen some mysterious leaks beforehand). Galaxy Note Edge is the device I’m talking about. First thing that popped to my mind when I saw this thing was “weird”, though I was glad Samsung differentiated this time around even though this device really doesn’t appeal to me, but I bet there are those of you who will jump at a chance to get one of these. Either way, this is something new and, well, interesting. Unfortunately it seems this device won’t have nearly as wide availability as the Note 4 has, not by a long shot. We’ve heard rumors that Note Edge will have a limited availability due to that curved Edge display, it is allegedly hard to manufacture.
UK retailer Clove indirectly confirmed that fact, they said there will be no stock of Note Edge available in the UK. Distribution channels have allegedly told Clove that UK won’t be among the countries this device will launch in (as previous information suggested), at least not initially, this goes for most European countries actually. Samsung on the other hand didn’t say anything thus far, hopefully they’ll shed some light on this whole situation in the near future. Clove did say they’ll try to source a non-UK stock for those who are interested in the device though. Pricing of this device isn’t confirmed either, but considering the Note 4-like specs and features plus that Edge screen which is reportedly hard to manufacture, don’t expect this device to be cheap. Clove did however said that Galaxy Note 4 will arrive around October 13 and will be priced at £575, off contract of course.
Galaxy Note edge features a 5.6-inch QHD (2560 x 1600) Super AMOLED display, 3GB of RAM and 32 or 64GB of internal storage (expandable via MicroSD card up to 128GB). The device is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 805 quad-core chip clocked at 2.7GHz which comes with Adreno 420 GPU for graphics processing. 16-megapixel OIS camera can be found at the back of the device while there’s a 3.7-megapixel shooter located on the front of the device. Android 4.4.4 KitKat comes pre-installed on this thing with Samsung’s Revolving UX UI on top of it. Check out the full spec sheet here.
