I believe most of you have at least heard of SimCity, although I guess most of you played the game at least for a short while. This game was, and I guess still is, extremely popular on a PC platform. It seems like EA Mobile plans to deliver a special version of the game for touchscreen devices. The game will be called SimCity BuildIt and it will be released for Android, iPad and iPhone platforms “soon”. There are a bunch of city builder applications available on the Google Play Store as we speak, like Megapolis and City Island, but SimCity is definitely far more popular and it will quite probably get a significant following after it’s released.
There aren’t many details available about the upcoming game though EA claims this will be an “all-new SimCity game like you’ve never seen before, designed for gamers on the go.” Hopefully EA won’t mess it up and it will be a true touchscreen optimized game. EA also stated that “you will need to meet citizens needs to evolve your city in a variety of ways.” This sounds quite promising, though the game will most probably be based on SimCity 4, I’m just guessing of course. It would be really nice to see some unique gameplay that wasn’t showcased in a PC version of the game. EA Mobile also stated that you will be able to pinch and zoom into your city and rotate it 360 degrees on a touchscreen, so the game won’t have a static view point, which is good of course.
Looking back at EA Mobile titles on Android, this game will most probably be free to play though it will contain in-app purchases. This seems to be the preference of many developers these days, EA included. EA Mobile already has tons of published games for Android which you can check out here. Dead Space, Monopoly, Need for Speed, Sims and many more well-known games area already available for Android platform. We’ll let you know as soon as we find out more information about SimCity BuildIt, stay tuned.
