Evernote Gets The Material Design Treatment Along With New Features

Along with the upcoming Android “L” update, Google is about to introduce a new skeuomorphic Material Design UI which actually seems rather impressive and beautiful, though opnions differ of course. We’ve seen a ton of new and re-designed apps to fit Google’s design language already, like Talon for Twitter, Unclouded and Wally for example. We have a recent “Top 10 Material Design Apps for Android” article if you’d like to check that out. Google Play Store has received a partial Material Design update, and yeterday Google’s Chrome browser app has received the full treatment. Chrome Beta had this design for a while now and it is now available for Chrome (stable) as well.

Anyhow, we’re here to talk about yet another app which got re-designed and got a slew of features along the way, a well-known an popular note taking app Evernote. The update is currently live so you should be able to update via the Google Play Store, if not, you’ll be able to do so soon. This is version 6 of the app and the majority of it has been re-designed. Along with the re-design, Evernote provided some new features as well. There’s a new button you might notice in the lower right-hand corner, if you tap it you’ll be able to create text, photo, audio, etc. This button also provides a nice animation which is really satisfying to look at for some reason. Navigation within the app has been somewhat simplified, tabs for your notebooks, tags, and shortcuts have been added to the sliding drawer. Its location hasn’t change, you can access it by swiping from the left edge of the screen. Web clipping is also available now, you can access it while you’re browsing a webpage by clicking the share button. Note that the navigation is slightly different on tablets though (check out the images below).

There’s really lots of new stuff that this update brings aside from the re-design itself, if you’d like to try it out simply click the button below the article or follow the source link below. Let us know if you like it.
