Featured Review: Cruzerlite Bugdroid Case for Sony Xperia Z2

Cruzerlite have been making case for Android flagships for years now and the saying generally goes “if you don’t like cases, get a Cruzerlite”. That’s something that has remained true for a long time, they’re great for protection and they’re really quite stylish, especially if you’re an all-round Android fan. Here, I’m talking a look at the Cruzerlite Bugdroid case for the Xperia Z2. I’ve had my Z2 tucked away in the Bugdroid case for a little while now, and this is what I thought of.

First things first, this is a fairly good-looking case, with that circuit design running underneath our friend Andy, and for the more techie, and more nerdy readers out there, this is a nice choice when talking about looks. Elsewhere though, Cruzerlite have done a good job of making a guess that, when coupled with a decent screen protecor should offer some decent protection from knocks and drops. It’s not so thick on the rear of the device, but the edges are a lot thicker than other similar cases and this is a good thing as there’s more padding to protect those corners. Also, this provides a pretty decent lip around the front of the device, letting you rest the Z2 face-down without having to worry about that beautiful display.

All the cutouts you could think are here, with the camera nice and accessible, the camera key as well as the charging flap to get at that microUSB port. However, the dock connector is completely covered up, but that’s not much of a problem as the case is too thick to work in Sony’s official charging dock as it is. The camera key is a lot trickier to operate here as the lip around the side of the device is quite a bit thicker than others, but it’s all what you get used to. I enjoy the minor details like the tear drop shape around the power button and volume rocker, as this makes it easy to find volume down in a pinch. If you were worried about the thick case stopping headphones, you need’t, as the noise-cancelling buds the Z2 is famed for fit nicely as do all the other headphone jacks I have lying around, too.

Overall, the Cruzerlite Bugdroid case is a great case for those that aren’t really happy with cases and a good case in its own right. It’s available in this white color from Mobile-Fun here and it’s also available in an array of other colors, too.
