As far as the Nexus tablet goes, we’ve heard both Nexus 8 and Nexus 9 being referred to as the name, and even Nexus 8.9. The Nexus tablet, this year, is supposedly being made by HTC. Which got plenty of us nerds excited as we are looking forward to HTC returning to the Nexus game. They made the very first Nexus, the Nexus One, and hasn’t made one since. HTC has great hardware quality, and we’d love to see that in a Nexus, especially given the Nexus’ price point.
We’ve heard several rumors on sizes for the Nexus 8.9 or the Nexus 9. Which is a 8-inch tablet, a 8.9-inch tablet and a 9-inch tablet. I’d be willing to bet it’s a 8.9-inch tablet. We don’t have many 8.x-inch tablets out there for Android right now, and I think a 8.9-inch tablet would be the closest to a Nexus 10 as we’re going to get, unfortunately. As I know a lot of people are looking forward to the Nexus 10 refresh that may never happen. I think I’d be perfectly happy with a Nexus 8.9 made by HTC. Which is just about confirmed now, thanks to NVIDIA leaking out their roadmap.
The Nexus 8.9/9 is also said to be a 4:3 aspect ratio instead of the typical 16:10 or 16:9 aspect that most other tablets use. Now the Nexus 8.9 wouldn’t be the first one, as the iPad has always been 4:3, but also Acer has made a few with that aspect ratio. Although Acer’s attempts haven’t done well. So a 8.9-inch HTC-made Nexus 8.9? How many of you would be interested in that? I know I would, especially if the rumored price of $349 is correct. That’s a great price for that sized tablet.
